Crows’ Phillips yet to make call on career

Adelaide coach Matthew Clarke is hopeful his side’s grand final loss to Brisbane won’t prove to be Erin Phillips’ last AFLW match.

Phillips, who won the best afield medal in the Crows’ 2017 and 2019 grand final wins, had little impact on Saturday’s 18-point loss at Adelaide Oval.

Clarke revealed the 35-year-old superstar had barely trained from the halfway point of the season as she managed painful knee issues related to the wear and tear of her professional basketball career.

Phillips has undergone two reconstructions after rupturing ACL’s in both knees – the most recent in her left during the 2019 AFLW decider.

“I’d like her to,” Clarke replied when asked if he wants Phillips to play on in 2022.
